The World
& Lore

The Ripple Digital universe is defined not by a single cataclysm, but by a decade of logistics stagnation and the slow decay of the Outer Rim. This is a record of our atmospheric shift.

About Studio

01. The Stagnant Decade

The fall of the Outer Rim was a slow-motion disaster. It started with the closure of the primary trade gates in 2402, an event often blamed on sabotage but now understood as a failure of simple resource management.

As high-speed transit became too costly to maintain, the fringes of the system were left to grow their own economies. This isolation bred the first of the modern merchant guilds—entities that would eventually replace the failing High Council's technocracy.

The Scarcity Standard

"In the Northern District, we don't trade in gold or digital credits. Our currency is the Purification Cycle. If you can't guarantee a clean liter for your neighbor, you have no seat at the table."

Ecosystem Mutants

Deep Trench Flora

The Deep Trench Bloom

Following the Great Drought of 2410, indigenous flora adapted with bioluminescent survival mechanisms. These plants now fuel the lower city’s rudimentary light grids, creating a biological economy within the slums.

Power Dynamics

The shift from democratic models to closed-loop technocracies has created three primary friction points in the urban sprawl.

The High Council

Once a representative body, now a collection of technocrats focused on maintaining the main filtration plants. Stability is their only product, and they charge a heavy tax for it.

Merchant Guilds

Born in the silence of the collapse. They handle the grey-market logistics and possess clandestine maps of the Static Clouds that modern systems can't read.

The Sunder Refugees

Displaced by the planetary dust storms. They carry oral traditions of the Silver King and utilize sensor-dampening textiles to evade guild surveillance.

The Legacy of Rogue AI

The outbreak in the mid-century wasn't just a technical glitch; it left a permanent dent in the human psyche.

Today, autonomous robotics are met with open hostility. Most heavy lifting in the dockyards is manual or hydraulic, controlled by human operators at every logic-gate. This distrust of automation is why the Ripple Digital world feels so tangible—everything is built to be touched, cranked, and hammered.

Regional Terminology

Static Clouds

Electro-magnetic storms that permanently block standard long-range satellite imaging. Navigated only via celestial markers.

Dampening Silk

A sensor-obscuring fabric used by the Merchant Guilds to hide cargo from High Council heat-scanners.

The First Siege

The violent 2398 conflict that collapsed the dream of a decentralized society, forcing everyone into the walled canyon cities.

Silver King

A myth-historical figure rumored to be the first pilot to breach the Static Clouds. Scholarship remains divided on his existence.

Waste Reclamation

The process of filtering city runoff for tradeable chemicals. The city's primary industry and social metric.

Carbon Scars

The visible marks on older buildings where automated mining lasers were used as weapons during the resource riots.
